On December 15, 1967, Ami Kawai was born in Tokyo, Japan. She is an actress best known for her roles in Roboman Hakaider (1995), Mobile Sheriff Jiban (1989), and Dinosaur Squadron Zyuranger (1992).

Kawai was born in Tokyo parents Rie Kawai, an actress, and restaurant manager. Her grandma and great-grandfather are actors, and she comes from a long line of them. She resumed her show business career after being discovered by a production company while she was a college student.

Although she shared a side character with Akemi Furukawa in Kidou Keiji Jiban, she was already well-known in Europe and Latin America before the Power Rangers became popular.
