Marie Osmond Reveals Shes Not Leaving Any Money To Her Children, Calls It A Disservice To H

Marie Osmond has been working in show business since she was a child, and has built some serious wealth after nearly six decades in the industry. However, the entertainer recently revealed that she will not be leaving her children any money in her will because it would be a “disservice” to them.

“I’m not leaving any money to my children. Congratulations, kids,” said the 60-year-old during a recent episode of The Talk. “I think you do a great disservice to your children to just hand them a fortune because you take away the one most important gift you can give your children, and that’s the ability to work.”

Osmond went on to say that you see a lot of rich families where the kids don’t know what to do, so they end up getting into a lot of trouble. Instead, she wants her children to be proud of what they earn, so Osmond is donating her money to charity.

Osmond shares son Stephen, 36 with her husband, Stephen Craig. Osmond and Craig married in 1982, but divorced in 1985. However, they remarried in a private ceremony in 2011.

She is also the mother of Michael, Jessica, 32, Matthew, 31, Rachel, 30, Brandon, 23, Brianna, 22, and Abigail, 17, who she shares with ex Brian Blosil. Osmond and Blosil split in 2007 after more than 20 years of marriage, and their son Michael committed suicide in 2010 when he was just 18 years old.

Osmond gave the eulogy for her son before going back to work just a week later. At the time, Osmond said that it was a really hard, calculated decision. Osmond explained that she was unique. And, as a female in the entertainment business who has been working consistently for 48 years, her stage was her safe place.

Osmond said that going back to work so soon after son’s death didn’t scare her like it scares some people. She knew that if she didn’t get back on stage quickly, she might never return.

Marie Osmond said in 2019 that she was shamed for her decision to return to work after Michael’s death. She opened up on The Talk, and said that people were “cruel” because she chose to show her children that they had to keep living.
